Latest Trends in Fashion and Beauty – a Nod to Bollywood
“Bollywood” is the casual term widely used for the Mumbai based Hindi movie industry in India. Based on the decadent, opulent, yet trendy look and feel of these films, “Bollywood” or “Bollywood inspired” is also a phrase used to describe a wonderful rising trend in fashion.
Rich, vibrant, bright colors are combined with decadent fabrics such as silk, brocade, jacquard, chiffon, amazing beadwork, and meticulous embroidery. The result is elegant, theatrical and extremely wearable. Cues from some of the most beautiful Bollywood superstars like Aishwarya Rai, and Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire), give this example of a movie inspired, yet beautifully wearable work of art.
The colors and detailing on this saree (sari) are very traditional handworked designs reminiscent of Rajasthani and Kutchi colors, patterns and embroidery. Also shown in the skirt is a tie die pattern know as “bandhni”, or to bind with thread to achieve a pattern. A peacock green and gold saree.
