Bruce Willis Sued Over Silk Rug Wine Stain
Los Angeles County, May 8, 2010 -- Hollywood actor Bruce Willis is being sued by a fine rug store for damaging a silk rug with red wine. The rug is estimated to be worth close to $30,000. The star of Die Hard allegedly purchased the handmade silk and wool carpet from Mansour, an upscale rug store in Los Angeles. He is being sued by the company after he returned the rug with a red wine stain and refused to pay for, or acknowledge the damage. According to the lawsuit filed by LA County Superior Court, the company delivered the rug in perfect condition and gave the actor a 10 percent discount. Willis decided to return the rug six weeks later, after it had been altered and before he had paid for it.
When the representatives from Mansours went to collect the rug, they claimed it had been stained with spilled red wine.
According to court documents, Willis said no one in his household caused the damage. The actors attorney said the lawsuit is “ridiculous”.
